About us

We are NEDA proficient doulas assisting the dying and their families to feel more confident and connected during the end-of-life process. We provide a wide range of holistic services including, emotional, physical, spiritual, mental, and practical support. We are alongside the families from the initial diagnosis through bereavement.
“Birth and death are the most singular events we experience – and the contemplation of death, as of birth, should be a thing of beauty, not ignobility.” Jacob K. Javits

The Role of the End-of-Life Doula
  • The essence of doula care is to provide non-medical, non-judgmental support and guidance to individuals and families through times of critical, transformative life change.
  • Loyal Hands doulas nurture, inform, support, guide, empower and comfort.
  • Loyal Hands doulas work with other caregivers and members of the medical team.
  • Loyal Hands foster self-determination in their clients by assisting them in gathering information and encouraging them to make informed choices that are right for them.
  • For client needs outside of Loyal Hands doula’s scope of practice, the doula makes referrals to appropriate professionals and community resources.

Got a Question?

F.A.Qs

An End Of Life Doula is a non-medical person trained to care for someone holistically (physically, emotionally and spiritually) at the end of life. End Of Life doulas are also known around the world as: death doulas, end of life coaches, transition guides, death coaches, doula to the dying, and death midwives.

Sooner rather than later! One of the most critical mistakes in having a #DeathPositive experience, is asking for end of life support too late! Allowing Loyal Hands doulas to help families at this time is invaluable. This dramatically reduces the inevitable stress and creates the most positive experience possible.

End of Life doulas are supportive to hospice(palliative care centers); they do not take the place of hospice. Our doulas are a loving presence for the family as a caregiver or other supportive service. Loyal Hands doulas work with hospice if the family wants us to communicate with hospice. Our doulas also can step in where hospice may need help like:

  • Advance health care planning

  • Access to community resources

  • Practical training for family caregivers

  • Creating a plan for support at the patient’s time of death

  • Help with planning funeral and memorial services

  • Companionship to our patients

  • Needed relief for family caregivers

  • Assistance with a hobby, letter writing or scrapbook

  • Therapeutic music and animal-assisted social visits

  • Transportation to appointments

  • Help with household errands

  • Vigil presence for actively dying patients

Although there is no government licensure nationally or international for the End of Life Doula profession, Loyal Hands doulas acquire the highest level of education to practice, undergo extensive training, and are NEDA proficient!
